ERICA LUDLOW BOWMAN

LICENSED LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT AND GARDEN DESIGNER

gardens are at the heart of my being

They have been for as long as I can remember. I am a lover of plants and devotee of soils. Nature is my muse, my inventor of spaces, and my keeper of colors. I receive inspiration from the delicate ecosystem of the landscape, energy from the sound of bees. I study the plants’ relationships with the sun. I analyze their lust for water, and survey their complicated interplay with insects. I like to examine the intricacies of each flower, from the fold of its leaves to the layers of its petals, and the complexity of its spots and whorls. These studies MAKE UP MY DAILY EXPERIENCE and with the knowledge they bring, I am able to design working, living gardens, full of love and light, and teeming with life.

The garden is my greatest art.
