STONE in the GARDEN
Stone is a big part of the New England projects. Not only does it tie the garden to the site in a very organic way, but as a material, stone is functional and enduring. Our projects embrace the natural texture and shape of stones to give character to the place. The project pictured above came with significant grade challenges. The inhabitants needed to get from the house level to the garden level gracefully and directly. Still, we added some intentional swagger, pauses, and distractions to bring greater beauty and ease to the journey.
